Logo-EpicGames-For-Site-Header This has shown to be a common hiccup overtime and typically occurs when you select the install button on a particular game title in the midst of browsing your library of games in the Epic games launcher.

There are (3) methods we can try in order to fix this error.

1. Easy option, but probably the least common fix.

Starting with the easiest option, if you are trying to install a particular game from your library and it keeps failing with this error, restart your launcher and then selected a different game to install. When you receive the UAC prompt, select no and that should stop the alternative game from installing. Now try the game you originally wanted to install again. This has been a solution for smaller set of users. Continue to the next section if you still receive the same error.

2. Sometimes you just got to rid of your cache

There are some cached data buildup as you use the launcher which can become corrupted in some way. Removing these cached files is a good first step in trying to solve this error message.

For Windows In the lower right corner click on the arrow pointing up (the chevron) Right-click on the Epic icon in the pop up window Select Exit Press the Windows key and tap the R key, this will open a run window Type %localappdata% Press the Enter key, this will open File Explorer Open the EpicGamesLauncher folder Open the Saved folder Right click and select delete on:

  • webcache
  • webcache_4147
  • webcache_4430

NOTE: You may only see (1) or (2) of the (3) folders listed which is normal.

3. The dreadful re-install

If the above options still do not solve the error, then that likely could mean there is more corruption within the application that will need to be removed and replaced via app reinstallation. And unfortunately yes...Epic's launcher hasn't quite matured enough yet to the point of keeping the launcher app and the actual games or apps separated enough to perform a reinstall without affected everything. yes this would also include any games\applications that you currently have installed.
